ABOUT US...

 

Rocksector is an independent music services company, born in 2007. It's a family-run business, stemming from a 180 degree life-change, when our founder (Mark Appleton) suffered a heart attack (at the tender age of 44) and went on to resign from the corporate world and embrace the area of small business self-employment. In the beginning we knew almost nothing about running a record label (our first incarnation) and so we made mistakes and we learned. As things developed we grew to include management services and booking work, alongside the record label. We also run our own rock and metal festival in Oldham (North East Manchester). We have worked with many bands/artists with varying degrees of success, always driven by a determined independence. ​

The 2 main artists we currently work with are Blaze Bayley and Absolva.

Our team is sub-contracted to Blaze Bayley Recording, responsible for all aspects of management, music releases, band for live performances, band for recording, production work, bookings. On the other hand, Absolva use Rocksector Records as the vehicle for all music releases and management in-house (principally operated by Christopher Appleton and Luke Appleton).

Underpinning all of this service is the one and only Lynne Appleton (Hampson on social media) who mainly runs our webshops single-handedly, focussing on the logistics of shipping and postage worldwide. Our event, SOS Festival, is also the 'baby' of Lynne and she has successfully navigated the potential pitfalls, to the extent that SOS has become one of the most solid and successful things we do.

As well as selling music and accessories direct to fans, we also distribute physically via Plastic Head (Blaze Bayley) and Code 7 / Plastic Head (Absolva). Digital distribution is handled by Plastic Head Media.

Regarding the future, we have tentative ambitions to widen our sphere as a media company. We see potential in supporting the independent 'underground', whilst not losing touch with the bigger names in the business, our heroes since the 1960s / 1970s and so on.​
